Principal's Message

At Orchard School, staff, administration, parents and children  are committed to providing a positive safe community in which each individual can discover and develop his or her academic, creative, social, and emotional potential.

The whole child is valued and respected. Each individual is expected to use his or her unique strengths to contribute to the community of the school and society.

I am so proud to be the principal at Orchard Elementary School! Orchard School has a terrific reputation within the Ridgewood Public Schools as a caring, community school that offers a spirit of warmth and cooperation. School staff members, parents, and students work together to provide an academically challenging curriculum and culturally rich environment for all of our children.

My time in Ridgewood began in the summer of 2015.  Prior to working at Orchard School, I served as an elementary principal from 2010-2015, in the neighboring Westwood Regional School District. Prior to that, I was a district supervisor, and classroom teacher for grades 1 and 3. Lucky for me, I love what I do, and remain as excited to work with students every day as I was on day one.

I invite you to access the various areas of our website to find information relative to Orchard and the Ridgewood Public Schools. Parents are encouraged to refer to the Policies/Procedures Handbook, as many of your questions can be answered here. You will find important links on our homepage as well.

It has always been my policy to have an open door for students, staff, parents, and community members. I invite you all to contact me at any time, with questions, concerns, or comments. I look forward to a terrific school year and wish you all the best for 2024-25!

Mary K. Ferreri
Principal, Orchard Elementary School

Welcome to Orchard School!

Orchard is one of six elementary schools in Ridgewood.  Orchard is a wonderful school community where you can truly get to know every child and family.  We serve just over 300 students and love our small size!  At Orchard, students are involved in many aspects of our daily operation and we stress responsibility and independence.  We are a Choose to Be Nice school and participate in kindness activities throughout the school year.  Orchard is a warm and welcoming place to be.  Our door is always open!
